People’s Assembly: a discussion on food surplus and redistribution

30th November, 9:30am-2:30pm.

Norton Park Business and Conference Centre, 57 Albion Road, Edinburgh.

Whilst the event is free to attend, spaces are limited so please reserve your place now.

Join our partner Cyrenians at their People’s Assembly on surplus food provision as part of our Food Justice project, Extended Table.

The People’s Assembly will involve a conversation around the challenges and considerations the third-sector faces whilst using redistributed food, with the aim of collaborating on an answer to the question: what should the future of food redistribution look like?

The event will hear from speakers from the Cyrenians Cook School, Felix and a Pastures for Life Farmer to share their perspectives on the challenges facing the third sector and food redistribution.

Interactive and small group discussions will ask participants to consider questions such as ‘What constitutes a meal?’; ‘What makes good food good?’; ‘What is the role of government bodies and corporations to provide nutritious food?’.

What is a People’s Assembly?

A peoples assembly is an open and free to attend meeting where community members gather to discuss an issue that is important to them. It is a chance to have your voice heard through a facilitated and inclusive discussion and contribute to generating ideas for change and making shared decisions.
